Is She For Real?

To leash or not to leash? This is one of those controversial mommy topics that I've never really gotten into. I personally don't ever plan on using one, but I don't exactly judge any parent who decides that it's the way to go. To each his (or her) own.

However, yesterday while at the park, I saw the leash concept taken to the extreme. There I was, pushing Macy on the swing, when over walks a lady with her son, who had an actual dog leash wrapped around his waist. I am not even making this up. It was one of those retractable kind that you can lengthen or shorten, depending on how close or far you want your dog (or in this case, child) from you. I was seriously in shock. Mind you, this isn't some kind of crazy busy park either. Besides Macy and I and the leash lady, there were only four other people.

It gets better.

I kept watching to see if leash lady was ever going to de-leash her kid...she NEVER did! She did let go of the handle (letting it dangle by the poor kid's side) while she pushed him on the swing, but promptly grabbed the handle as soon as he was off the swing. She even held the leash as he went down the slide! (Figure that one out...I sure couldn't.)

Maybe I'm not such a bad mom after all...

haha....ok, that is so funny, I have always thought those might come in handy like at Disneyland or something busy and huge and crazy, but only for a kid that WILL not sit in a stroller or be carried...like Scoty, but no where else, that i can handle. BUT here is a funny story to add to yours. So this summer while we were in Canada Shon's cousin had her son on a leash. Well, we were are a big town celebration and there were kiddie races, well yeah, she kept the leash on this poor kid the whole race while he ran it! Can you believe it? It was pretty much the family joke the whole time we were there!

So at Spud Day I saw this kid that had a rope (an actual rope!!) tied through one of his belt loops and his dad was holding onto the end of it. People are crazy!

I only have to say that if your kid is crazy and runs away the second you put them down, I can totally understand. I haven't ever done it myself but there have been PLENTY of times where I seriously thought about it. ;)
