Olympic Party

A few weeks ago we checked out a book about the Olympics
from the library.
I figured it would be a good way to easily introduce
the concept of the Olympics to Macy and Coleman.
After reading it once, Macy decided that she loved the Olympics
and that we should probably have a party.
So we did.

Complete with...

Decorations
Macy insisted on having streamers and would not let me help put them up.
She knew exactly how she wanted them.

I traced the Olympic rings and she did the painting.
The papers around the flag are various Olympic events,
including diving, running, swimming and ice skating.

"I know ice skating isn't in the summer Olympics."
Macy tells me.
"But I think I like it the best."

Food
Go USA lasagna,

weight lifter pretzel and banana snacks,

and Olympic ring inspired cupcakes.

Events
Here we have a combination of (single) synchronized swimming
and diving.
Neither athlete wanted to preform in the little pool.

We also had gymnastic routines,
which consisted of Macy yelling out moves
and all of us doing them.
Aunt Sarah can do a wicked backward somersault.
(No picture of that one...boo.)

Medal Ceremony

We ended the night by watching most of the opening ceremony.
The kids were a tad bit freaked out by the nightmare scene,
but loved Mr. Bean's appearance.

Here's to two weeks of Olympic watching.
Go USA!
