Pie, Anyone?

Since my poor blog desperately needs a post longer than 2 sentences, I thought I would share with you one of my most memorable Thanksgiving moments (which at the time, also qualified as a most embarrassing moment, although now I just think it's hilarious)
So, it was my first Thanksgiving with the Carters. Brett and I had only been married a few months, so I was still a little nervous around the in-laws. Everyone was in the kitchen/dining area helping get everything ready for dinner when Shannon (Brett's mom) asked me to pull the pies out of the oven. Easy, right?
So I get a pot holder and reach in to take out one of the pies. I grab the edge of one of the pies, slide it to the front of the rack and start to lift it out of the oven. I get about halfway between the oven and the counter and the pie plate (which just happens to be one of the those disposable tin-foil ones) basically folds in half (since I'm only holding onto one side of it) and the ENTIRE apple pie falls out of the tin and onto the oven and surrounding area. Awesome. And yes, everyone saw it.
So there I am, standing there with this bent in half pie tin, trying to figure out what I can possibly do to make this disaster go away...no ideas. Once Shannon stopped laughing, she grabbed the pie tin from me, bent it back into a semi-normal shape and scooped everything that didn't fall on the floor back in the tin (and later made everyone eat it...probably so I wouldn't feel bad.)
Like I said before, at the time it was the most mortifying thing that could have happened, now I just get a good laugh out of it. But you might not want me handling the pies anytime soon.

Hilarious! I can just imagine how you must have felt! Sorry we didn't get to see each other when I came to Utah. We got there in the late afternoon on Friday and left on Saturday morning! We'll have to plan a longer trip some time soon. Have a good Thanksgiving!!
