Garage Issues

Nothing makes Brett happier than this...

...seeing our two piece of crap cars nestled side by side in our garage, safe from sprinklers, snow, rain, and anything else that might threaten to cause damage to the already beat-up bodies of our vehicles. (And when I say nothing makes him happier, I almost literally mean it. I am pretty sure he mentioned how glad he was to have both cars in the garage AT LEAST four times today...in the last hour.)

That being said, nothing makes me angrier than this...

...no mistake, it's the same picture. But seriously very few things make me angrier (people who don't understand the art of merging, paying obscene amounts of money to register cars in Utah every year, student loans) than seeing these two cars parked in our garage at the same time.

Allow me to explain.

I get it. Cars go in garages. If you can't fit your car in your garage because your stuff is in the way then you probably have too much stuff. However, our garage is not a 2-car garage. It's more like a 1.75 car garage. You can technically fit two cars in it, but it leaves literally no room for anyone, let alone someone + two kids and a diaper bag and purse to get in either car. When Brett successfully manages to squeeze both of our cars into our garage, I have to shimmy sideways down one side of the car, take a few steps, then shimmy back up the other side of the car and attempt to squeeze into the driver's seat, back the car out of the not 2-car garage, then run back inside and grab the kids and our gear before I can take off.

And that's if I'm lucky. Occasionally, due to the placement of the two cars there isn't enough room to open the driver side door far enough to get in, so I am forced to climb in on the passenger side and crawl across into the drivers seat.

My neighbors probably think I'm crazy.

But, it makes Brett happy. Thank goodness he parks his car at the train station all week, or we'd have some serious issues going on.

this post totally just made my day. You just described my life! Our garage is for "1.75 cars" too! But we don't even have a door to inside our house in the garage... I have to go out, unlock the garage door, then open the big garage door, then go back inside, get the baby... and then shimmy between the 2 cars to put her in her carseat, then take one more trip back in to get the rest of my stuff. SO glad I'm not alone out there! :)

Apparently our garage is an extra wide...seriously, how do the slim garage people do it?
I've got a solution, back in your car, make Brett get out on the passenger side and make the kids buckle themselves ;)
